Finally drew a girl!!

Since I started in illustration I have never been able to draw girls well. I have been drawing a few lately. Tonight I was drawing a man and it slowly started looking like a girl. I went with it and this is what I got. So I guess you could say this drawing changed genders….

A hard battle

There is a saying that is attributed to Plato that goes,

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Since I heard it I have tried to use it in two ways. One, that I should obviously try to remember that I should be kind to those around me; but also to remind myself that whatever it is I may be facing, there are other people fighting their own personal fights as well and that I am not alone.

Life is a tough walk. But if there’s one thing faith has shown me, it is that struggling always brings about good. My faith itself is in many ways a result of struggles that I went through when I was younger and finding out what this was all about.

Being kind to others lets them open up to you. And I believe it is our calling to help others in their struggles. I believe we are doing the work of God when we do so.

New sketchbook soon

I’m starting a new sketchbook. I just finished one with a fake suede cover that I drew a tree man on. I am excited to fill this one with myself in the form of sketches and drawings. I am going to make this newest one into a more private journal. So you may not see some drawings for fear of you seeing into my private entries and finding out my deepest darkest secrets.

Thirty Day Drawing Project

I am starting a new drawing project. It includes thirty drawings over the course of one month. The first day was a self portrait.

My new PEZ!!

So I have started collecting PEZ dispensers as a cheap hobby. I went to an antique store today not expecting much and as we walked by one shelf I spied about 5 dispensers. They were ridiculously overpriced- I guess taking advantage of the expensive atmosphere- but as I picked them up I saw one was a rather old looking Daffy Duck. It just looked older than the others. The seller had them all priced at $10.00, and while the others were definitely not worth it, I thought this one might be. Turns out it is worth about 25-30 dollars. And I got it for 25% off!
